Vacancy Declared in DCGOP Secretary - Nielson Resigns | |

Secretary Nielson submitted his letter of resignation to the Central Committee and addressed the Executive Board at Saturday's Meeting, held in Parker on June 13th, 2009. Sec. Nielson's resignation required a formal declaration of vacancy for the seat.
The resignation letter reads:
The Douglas County Republicans will hold a Vacancy Meeting within 30 days from the declaration of vacancy.Dear Mr. Ransom, Chairman of the Douglas County Republicans; Fellow Party Officers; and all members past, present, and future of the Douglas County Republican Central Committee,
It is my duty as Secretary of the Douglas County Republican Party to inform you that as of May 18th, I have accepted an offer of promotion within my company, which will require relocation outside of Douglas County. Pursuant to the By Laws of the Douglas County Republicans, I will no longer be eligible to retain my official position within the party leadership. As such, it is my sad duty to resign the post of Secretary of the Douglas County Republican Party effective June 13th, 2009 at noon.
It has been my pleasure to serve the residents of Douglas County as an officer of the Douglas County Republicans. It has long been my goal to improve the way Republicans in Colorado communicate, to strictly adhere to Conservative and Libertarian values which emboldened this Party in the days of Reagan, and to ensure that the Party remains committed to supporting the right candidates to lead the fight for true liberty from government intrusions. As I leave this post, it is my wish that the Party continue to remain strong in Douglas County, making the difficult decisions that often lead the State of Colorado closer to a future of Liberty and Prosperity.
I thank you for your leadership, my fellow officers for their willingness to serve, and the hundreds of District and Precinct Captains present, past, and future for your dedication to a cause greater than yourselves. I ensure you that I will take with me the lessons learned in Douglas County, the heart of Conservative Values, and work to improve the community, county, districts, and state in which I will reside in the future.
Thank you again for the honor bestowed upon me as I was twice elected to the office of Secretary of the Party. It has been my pleasure to serve our Party, our County, and our State.
