Organizational Meeting Delayed Until Thursday 2/10/2011

February 7th, 2011

The Douglas County Republican Organizational Meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been delayed 48 hours until Thursday, February 10th at 7pm.  This delay also applies to the SD30, HD43, and HD44 Central Committee meetings which are scheduled to be held after the DCGOP Organizational Meeting.

This delay is due to increasing expectations for a significant winter storm expected to arrive tonight and continue through tomorrow, safety concerns due to potentially icy roads and blowing snow, and concerns of the Events Center staff regarding the logistics of getting cars and people in and out of the parking lot at the facility if snowfall is as significant as forecast.

The Douglas County Republican Organizational Meeting is now scheduled for this Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 7pm with credentialing to begin at 6pm.  All other aspects of this meeting remain the same, and details may be found here.

A message from Chairman Mark Baisley on the rescheduling follows:

"The Organizational Meeting will be delayed to Thursday to account for the impending storm.  The meeting will be called to order at 7:00PM on Thursday, February 10, following the same agenda as previously published.  Please arrive between 6:00PM and 6:30PM on Thursday in order to account for check-in time.

Procedural details to account for this delay have been coordinated with Colorado GOP attorney, Ryan Call, in order to respect and adhere to the DCR Bylaws.

I called Rick Murray this morning with this decision.  Rick is in agreement with the decision for the safety and impact to turnout of the Central Committee members.

The National Weather Service has issued the following advisory:

ROADS WILL BE ICY AND SNOW PACKED WITH VERY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS EXPECTED. VISIBILITIES COULD DROP BELOW ONE QUARTER OF A MILE IN THE HEAVIER SNOW AND STRONGER WINDS.

Also, the personnel of the Douglas County Fairgrounds is strongly supportive of the delay out of concerns for managing snow and ice in the parking lot.  They have accommodated the delay to Thursday with no additional fees to the DCR.

I appreciate your adjusting your personal schedules.  Thank you for your participation in the Douglas County Republicans.

Mark Baisley
Chairman
Douglas County Republicans"
