Statement from the Douglas County Republican Party Officers

September 13th, 2011

A statement from the
Executive Officers of the
Douglas County Republican Party

We believe it is our duty--as the Republican Party, the Central Committee, Executive Committee, and as executive officers—to advance the principles of the Republican Party as expressed in the Republican Party Platform, ensure the highest ethical standards within the party, win elections, and maintain accountability.  Our success as a party is only achieved when each of these goals are accomplished.

Pursuant to advancing the principles of the Republican Party, we will publicly support and advocate in favor of legislation and policies which advance the platform and principles of the Republican Party, and we will oppose and argue against those which do otherwise.  We will recognize Republican elected officials who advance policies and legislation consistent with the principles and platform of the Republican Party, and call attention to those Republican elected officials who do otherwise.

Pursuant to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the party, we will discuss and resolve disputes in full view of the Executive Committee, even when this necessitates confrontation.  Just as peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of justice, unity is not the absence of conflict but our common commitment to advancing Republican principles by electing Republicans despite our differences and internal conflicts.

Pursuant to winning elections and recognizing that winning elections requires the efforts of everyone, we will expect members of the Executive and Central Committee to dedicate time to the party commensurate with their position within the organization.

Pursuant to maintaining accountability, we will ask and expect that members of the Executive and Central Committee to hold us, the executive officers, and each other, to these same standards with any complaints subject to the same public resolution as described above.

We, the executive officers, will engage in the aforementioned activities with the support of the Executive Committee when possible, and alone as officers when necessary.

We invite all members of the Republican Party to join us in a renewed commitment to advance our Republican principles, demand the highest in ethical behavior, win elections, and hold each other accountable in these goals.

Mark Baisley, Chairman
Sandi Gregston, Vice-Chair
Craig Steiner, Secretary
Chuck O'Reilly, Treasurer
