Tonight, the Douglas County Republican Central Committee met at the Douglas County Fairground Events Center as the Commissioner Vacancy Committee to fill the vacancy for Commissioner District I caused by the resignation of Jack Hilbert.

The Vacancy Committee selected Dave Weaver to fill out Mr. Hilbert's term.  Dave Weaver was also chosen in last month's primary by the Republican voters of Douglas County to be our candidate for commissioner in November.  Mr. Weaver was sworn-in as commissioner after the meeting adjourned this evening, and took office immediately.

Thank you to all the members of the Douglas County Republican Central Committee who came out this summer evening to fulfill their civic duty, and congratulations to Commissioner Dave Weaver!

In addition to the commissioner vacancy that was filled this evening, on Saturday, July 19th the Vacancy Committee for House District 44 met to fill the vacancy in the candidacy for HD44.  After interviewing five qualified candidates, the vacancy committee appointed Kim Ransom to be the party's candidate for House District 44.
