Due to the resignation of the Chairman of the Douglas County Republican Party, an Official Call has been issued to the members of the DCR Central Committee for a Vacancy Committee Meeting to elect a chairman.

If the election of chairman should create a vacancy in the office of vice-chairman, an election for vice-chairman will also be held.

The Vacancy Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Events Center at 7:00pm.  Credentialing will begin at 6:00pm.

Under the Bylaws of the Douglas County Republican Central Committee, subject to the requirements that no person can hold more than one elected DCR office at a given time and that no elected official can be an elected DCR officer, persons eligible to run for the office of Chairman (and any other officer vacancies to be filled at the meeting) must (1) be residents of Douglas County, and (2) be registered to vote as Republicans in Douglas County, pursuant to state statutes. The Bylaws do not require that such persons presently be voting members of the DCR. 

Persons who wish to run for any vacant elected DCR office and who are not voting members of the DCR will be required to present proof of residence and registration at the meeting.
